Narrative:
I was sent, as a lead mechanic, by my employer, air carrier along with 2 other mechanics to repair several holes in the forward l-hand side of the fuselage. After an inspection, it was determined that the aircraft would have to have a temporary repair made and be ferried to xyz for permanent repair. The flight would be made unpressurized. I contacted our senior maintenance coordinator, explained the situation, and asked him if I should involve our engineering department in the repair. He told me no. I supervised the repair and I signed the repair off as being good for one unpressurized ferry flight. While the work was done in accordance with the structural repair manual, I did not have a specific repair to reference and I failed to give a reference in my logbook signoff. I now realize I should have used a specific repair and referenced it in my signoff or involved our engineering department to give us an engineering repair authority/authorized (era). I received bad information from both our maintenance coordinator and another lead mechanic.
