Narrative:

A normal landing and rollout was completed on runway 8 at bur. The captain allowed the aircraft to roll to the very end of the runway before making a right turn to taxi to gate xz. When we reached the end of runway 8, tower informed us that due to no traffic on final for runway 8, we could back taxi on the runway. The gates our airline uses at bur are on the very south side of runway zz-Y so a very short taxi takes place to get into the gate. The gate area and taxiway area are separated from the runway area by a black and yellow checked line. At the very east end of this separation line is a small island of red plastic cones surrounding a red/green runway threshold identifier light. The captain began a 180 degree right turn to taxi to our gate. He later stated to me that he never saw the island of red cones and threshold light so he split the difference in the turn and taxied on the checkered separation line. When my attention was directed back outside we had completed the 180 degree turn and I noticed we were taxiing with the nose gear on the checkered separation line. We later discovered that we had struck the threshold identifier light with the left engine and broke the light off at its base. We had the aircraft inspected by a mechanic and a logbook entry was made in the aircraft logbook reflecting the incident. No aircraft damage was found.

Title: A COMMERCIAL FIXED WING MLG WHILE TAXIING TO THE GATE STRUCK AND DAMAGED A RWY THRESHOLD IDENTIFIER LIGHT.

Narrative: A NORMAL LNDG AND ROLLOUT WAS COMPLETED ON RWY 8 AT BUR. THE CAPT ALLOWED THE ACFT TO ROLL TO THE VERY END OF THE RWY BEFORE MAKING A R TURN TO TAXI TO GATE XZ. WHEN WE REACHED THE END OF RWY 8, TWR INFORMED US THAT DUE TO NO TFC ON FINAL FOR RWY 8, WE COULD BACK TAXI ON THE RWY. THE GATES OUR AIRLINE USES AT BUR ARE ON THE VERY S SIDE OF RWY ZZ-Y SO A VERY SHORT TAXI TAKES PLACE TO GET INTO THE GATE. THE GATE AREA AND TXWY AREA ARE SEPARATED FROM THE RWY AREA BY A BLACK AND YELLOW CHKED LINE. AT THE VERY E END OF THIS SEPARATION LINE IS A SMALL ISLAND OF RED PLASTIC CONES SURROUNDING A RED/GREEN RWY THRESHOLD IDENTIFIER LIGHT. THE CAPT BEGAN A 180 DEG R TURN TO TAXI TO OUR GATE. HE LATER STATED TO ME THAT HE NEVER SAW THE ISLAND OF RED CONES AND THRESHOLD LIGHT SO HE SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TURN AND TAXIED ON THE CHECKERED SEPARATION LINE. WHEN MY ATTN WAS DIRECTED BACK OUTSIDE WE HAD COMPLETED THE 180 DEG TURN AND I NOTICED WE WERE TAXIING WITH THE NOSE GEAR ON THE CHECKERED SEPARATION LINE. WE LATER DISCOVERED THAT WE HAD STRUCK THE THRESHOLD IDENTIFIER LIGHT WITH THE L ENG AND BROKE THE LIGHT OFF AT ITS BASE. WE HAD THE ACFT INSPECTED BY A MECH AND A LOGBOOK ENTRY WAS MADE IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK REFLECTING THE INCIDENT. NO ACFT DAMAGE WAS FOUND.
