Narrative:
On application of takeoff power, #2 engine spooled faster than #1 causing aircraft to start skidding left. Unable to control slide with either nosewheel steering or brakes due to icy runway. Control regained with differential reverse to bring aircraft to center of runway. Taxied off runway at intersection and subsequent takeoff made uneventful with slower application of power, after proper checks. Runway was plowed only in center section.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B737 FLC APPLYING TKOF PWR HAS #2 ENG SPOOL UP FASTER THAN #1 ENG CAUSING THE ACFT TO SKID ON THE ICY RWY. TKOF IS ABORTED AND CHKED. ON SECOND TKOF PWR IS APPLIED MORE SLOWLY.
Narrative: ON APPLICATION OF TKOF PWR, #2 ENG SPOOLED FASTER THAN #1 CAUSING ACFT TO START SKIDDING L. UNABLE TO CTL SLIDE WITH EITHER NOSEWHEEL STEERING OR BRAKES DUE TO ICY RWY. CTL REGAINED WITH DIFFERENTIAL REVERSE TO BRING ACFT TO CTR OF RWY. TAXIED OFF RWY AT INTXN AND SUBSEQUENT TKOF MADE UNEVENTFUL WITH SLOWER APPLICATION OF PWR, AFTER PROPER CHKS. RWY WAS PLOWED ONLY IN CTR SECTION.
