Narrative:
Although I was not in any way involved, I understand 2 passenger exchanged several blows before being separated, reseated and calmed down. As first class galley, only know that purser had to go back to coach several times to soothe situation! Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that the purser's absence due to the fighting passenger caused her to work the first class service by herself. This was definitely interference in the flight attendant's duties. No auths were called to meet the aircraft. The word that the reporter received was that the purser was able to get cooperation from a couple who agreed to change seats so that the 2 fighting passenger could be seated further apart. Apparently words were exchanged by these 2 passenger prior to boarding the aircraft and things developed from that into a very disruptive scenario.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PAX SVC DISRUPTED BECAUSE OF 2 PAX WHO WERE FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER. THE PURSER HAD TO DEAL WITH THE SIT AND TRY TO SEPARATE THEM AND REARRANGE SEATING TO KEEP THEM APART.
Narrative: ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT IN ANY WAY INVOLVED, I UNDERSTAND 2 PAX EXCHANGED SEVERAL BLOWS BEFORE BEING SEPARATED, RESEATED AND CALMED DOWN. AS FIRST CLASS GALLEY, ONLY KNOW THAT PURSER HAD TO GO BACK TO COACH SEVERAL TIMES TO SOOTHE SIT! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT THE PURSER'S ABSENCE DUE TO THE FIGHTING PAX CAUSED HER TO WORK THE FIRST CLASS SVC BY HERSELF. THIS WAS DEFINITELY INTERFERENCE IN THE FLT ATTENDANT'S DUTIES. NO AUTHS WERE CALLED TO MEET THE ACFT. THE WORD THAT THE RPTR RECEIVED WAS THAT THE PURSER WAS ABLE TO GET COOPERATION FROM A COUPLE WHO AGREED TO CHANGE SEATS SO THAT THE 2 FIGHTING PAX COULD BE SEATED FURTHER APART. APPARENTLY WORDS WERE EXCHANGED BY THESE 2 PAX PRIOR TO BOARDING THE ACFT AND THINGS DEVELOPED FROM THAT INTO A VERY DISRUPTIVE SCENARIO.
