Narrative:

Upon clearance from ramp control at clt, we taxied to gate. Brake pressure was confirmed normal and gate was confirmed in sight with a guideman in sight. Per standard company procedures, the captain aligned the aircraft with the lead-in line and began to follow the marshaller's directions directly down the line. A catering truck was observed on the left side of the parking area. The captain slowed the aircraft and from what he could observe as well as the guideman's continued forward signals, he concluded the truck was clear. The aircraft was stopped per the guideman's signals. Just as we stopped, the aircraft moved as though something had come in contact with it. In fact, the catering truck had contacted the left navigation light cover.
