Narrative:
Cleared to descend from 3000 ft to 2000 ft on vectors for ILS approach with autoplt engaged, mistrim announced/illuminated on failure warning panel. Autoplt was disengaged, aircraft retrimmed and autoplt re-engaged and fault was cleared. But altitude preselect did not reset and assigned altitude was overshot by 300 ft and immediately corrected. Failure to verify that all flight director functions were set properly due to WX distraction contributed to this altitude deviation. Moderate turbulence and moderate rain occurring at the time.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A FALCON 50 FLC OVERSHOT THEIR ALT IN DSCNT WHEN THE AUTOPLT IS DISCONNECTED FOR AN OUT OF TRIM CONDITION AND THEN RECONNECTED, WITHOUT VERIFYING THAT THE ALT PRESELECT IS ARMED.
Narrative: CLRED TO DSND FROM 3000 FT TO 2000 FT ON VECTORS FOR ILS APCH WITH AUTOPLT ENGAGED, MISTRIM ANNOUNCED/ILLUMINATED ON FAILURE WARNING PANEL. AUTOPLT WAS DISENGAGED, ACFT RETRIMMED AND AUTOPLT RE-ENGAGED AND FAULT WAS CLRED. BUT ALT PRESELECT DID NOT RESET AND ASSIGNED ALT WAS OVERSHOT BY 300 FT AND IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED. FAILURE TO VERIFY THAT ALL FLT DIRECTOR FUNCTIONS WERE SET PROPERLY DUE TO WX DISTR CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ALTDEV. MODERATE TURB AND MODERATE RAIN OCCURRING AT THE TIME.
