Narrative:
During takeoff my ears and the #3's ears began to pop drastically. Then the cabin leveled off and we began in-flight service. We looked out the window and noticed low altitude. #3 went to cockpit and was informed that our pressurization was not properly working and that we were only at 8000 ft and would soon have to return to dfw to land. He told us to put all service items away and that we would be landing in about 30 mins. He said that emergency crews would be meeting us upon our landing, due to the weight/fuel of the aircraft. Once again #3 and I experienced very crackly ears, popping constantly. Landed very smooth. Emergency crews not needed, no incident, flight service met aircraft. Note passenger did mention their ears popping excessively on takeoff and landing, also.

Title: ON TKOF ONBOARD MD80S, UNABLE TO PRESSURIZE CABIN, FLC DECLARED EMER AND RETURN TO LAND WITHOUT INCIDENT.
Narrative: DURING TKOF MY EARS AND THE #3'S EARS BEGAN TO POP DRASTICALLY. THEN THE CABIN LEVELED OFF AND WE BEGAN INFLT SVC. WE LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND NOTICED LOW ALT. #3 WENT TO COCKPIT AND WAS INFORMED THAT OUR PRESSURIZATION WAS NOT PROPERLY WORKING AND THAT WE WERE ONLY AT 8000 FT AND WOULD SOON HAVE TO RETURN TO DFW TO LAND. HE TOLD US TO PUT ALL SVC ITEMS AWAY AND THAT WE WOULD BE LNDG IN ABOUT 30 MINS. HE SAID THAT EMER CREWS WOULD BE MEETING US UPON OUR LNDG, DUE TO THE WT/FUEL OF THE ACFT. ONCE AGAIN #3 AND I EXPERIENCED VERY CRACKLY EARS, POPPING CONSTANTLY. LANDED VERY SMOOTH. EMER CREWS NOT NEEDED, NO INCIDENT, FLT SVC MET ACFT. NOTE PAX DID MENTION THEIR EARS POPPING EXCESSIVELY ON TKOF AND LNDG, ALSO.
