Narrative:
Equipment door opened on takeoff. No equipment light indication. Aircraft would not pressurize. Returned for overweight landing (120000 pounds) and declared emergency per fom. Aircraft would not pressurize on takeoff. No abnormal indications (equipment; cargo door lights). Tried manual AC setting and manually closed outflow valve; no help. Discussed our options and returned for landing. Declared emergency due to overweight landing (120000 pounds) per company procedures. Made logbook entries for pressurization problem; failure of equipment door light to illuminate; and overweight landing. Aircraft would not pressurize. Aircraft came out of maintenance -- first flight since maintenance. Equipment light tested ok; malfunction -- did not indicate equipment door not secured. Furthermore; on my walkaround; all doors appeared closed. After returning maintenance said 'found a broken wire in the east&east compartment that caused this to occur.'
