Narrative:
King air inbound for fft, stated he had ASOS for fft requesting GPS runway 24 approach. Having control of aircraft, I descended them to 2700 ft MSL for the overlay approach. Aircraft requests direct to arnold. There is no intersection named arnold. Reviewing new approach plate, GPS runway 24 is no longer an overlaid approach and initial altitude is 3000 ft MSL. Aircraft had been cleared for GPS runway 24 fft below published altitude. Aircraft flies south course, sees fft and cancels IFR. Later pps at lex states GPS runway 24 had failed flight check -- not usage. No controller briefed or informed of new approach for fft. Pilot didn't know approach was unusable. Controller did not know new approach was available for airport he had control for. No current information is passed to controller work force about changes to approach information for our airspace.

Title: TRACON CTLR CLRS BE20 FOR AN APCH. ACFT DRIFTS S OF COURSE, SEES ARPT AND CANCELS IFR. CTLR FINDS OUT APCH FAILED FLT CHK AND IS UNUSABLE. FACILITY SPECIALIST ADVISES OF NEW APCH PROC IN EFFECT WITH DIFFERENT INITIAL APCH ALT AND NEW INTXNS.
