Narrative:

During boarding in san, a woman tripped while going to coach with the assistance of a male friend. I asked the #4 flight attendant if she too noticed this woman's unsteadiness. She replied yes that she could smell the alcohol as well. I notified the captain of removing the intoxicated passenger and also the gate agents. In doing so, 5 police officers had assisted, due to belligerent male companion. I feel it's better to prevent a 'what could be' a bad situation on ground before it happens.
