Narrative:
Landing was iad runway 12. Normal landing and turnoff at high speed. Tower told us to hold short hs-1 behind B767 which we did. Then the B767 continued, we followed them. We thought we were supposed to follow them since tower told us to hold behind. We didn't cross an active runway. Iad landing runway 12 hold behind B767, which is short of the extension of runway 19 which was the active. To prevent this, a clarification of taxi instructions would have prevented any misunderstanding.
