Narrative:

On takeoff roll, while setting takeoff power, noticed compressor stall. Lost #3 engine and generator. While exiting runway, aircraft behind us reported a fire on #3 engine. We commenced engine fire checklist and discharged #1 fire bottle. Crash fire rescue equipment reported fire was out. Notified maintenance control and returned to gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a B727-200 with JT8D-15 engines and the engine was replaced due to burner can failure.
