Narrative:

Engine fire on right engine. Declared emergency and returned to iah. Fire signals went out when reduced power. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated when the power was pulled back the fire warning ceased so the engine was not shut down. The reporter said that back on the ground the fire warning tested ok and maintenance found a pneumatic duct leak. The reporter stated the exact duct or area of the leak on the engine is unknown.

Title: AN MD80 ON CLBOUT AT 3200 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE AN ENG FIRE WARNING ON THE R ENG CAUSED BY AN ENG PNEUMATIC LEAK.

Narrative: ENG FIRE ON R ENG. DECLARED EMER AND RETURNED TO IAH. FIRE SIGNALS WENT OUT WHEN REDUCED PWR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED WHEN THE PWR WAS PULLED BACK THE FIRE WARNING CEASED SO THE ENG WAS NOT SHUT DOWN. THE RPTR SAID THAT BACK ON THE GND THE FIRE WARNING TESTED OK AND MAINT FOUND A PNEUMATIC DUCT LEAK. THE RPTR STATED THE EXACT DUCT OR AREA OF THE LEAK ON THE ENG IS UNKNOWN.
