Narrative:
Location: 15 mi west of lrp VOR. Descending to cross 30 mi west of lrp, we were given unexpected holding. WX was clear. We did not have any hold fuel. The first officer got a hold of dispatch. I gave him the aircraft. 30 mi west of lrp we were given unexpected hold. We became distraction with fuel computations, dispatch, and flight attendants asking what was going on. We began to enter the hold at the wrong location. ATC noticed this and we corrected. They said this was not a problem.

Title: FLC OF A SUPER MD80 BEGAN ENTERING HOLDING PATTERN AT THE WRONG LOCATION RESULTS IN ARTCC RADAR CTLR INTERVENING AND NOTICING ERROR. THE CREW THEN ENTERED AT THE CLRNC LOCATION.
Narrative: LOCATION: 15 MI W OF LRP VOR. DSNDING TO CROSS 30 MI W OF LRP, WE WERE GIVEN UNEXPECTED HOLDING. WX WAS CLR. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY HOLD FUEL. THE FO GOT A HOLD OF DISPATCH. I GAVE HIM THE ACFT. 30 MI W OF LRP WE WERE GIVEN UNEXPECTED HOLD. WE BECAME DISTR WITH FUEL COMPUTATIONS, DISPATCH, AND FLT ATTENDANTS ASKING WHAT WAS GOING ON. WE BEGAN TO ENTER THE HOLD AT THE WRONG LOCATION. ATC NOTICED THIS AND WE CORRECTED. THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT A PROB.
