Narrative:

ATC facility: new york departure. Location: jfk 220 degree radial, 5 DME. On departure, tower had said only moderate turbulence. On departure out of 1000 ft to 2000 ft, encountered pockets of severe turbulence up through 10000 ft. However, since in a climb, was able to keep positive G forces to less than 2 G's and no negative G forces. There were periods of time when unable to control pitch or headings for short periods. All passenger and crew were seated and no injuries were reported. Dispatch and ATC were notified and logbook entry was made. Supplemental information from acn 425175: the WX in new york was horrible. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph and downpour rain -- in sheets. The captain informed us that the runways keep changing because of the winds. I believe we were the first aircraft down this particular runway. Takeoff was fine for about 1 or 2 mins. Then all hell broke loose. Severe turbulence. As far as I'm concerned, we never should have taken off in that WX. The rain was coming down in sheets and the wind was incredible. Supplemental information from acn 425724: I could feel the plane being buffeted by the wind. Shortly after takeoff, we encountered significant turbulence -- the worse I have ever experience in 26 yrs. The force was in an up and down direction at first and then a side-to-side direction. I had a headache the rest of the flight. Whether it was stress induced or physical, I don't know. In my opinion, the WX situation should have prohibited taking off.
