Narrative:
I was traveling on a direct flight from hef to dxr. At a point approximately 7 mi southwest of nxx, I initiated a right turn to avoid a snow squall thinking that I had already passed nxx. At a point approximately 3 mi south of nxx, I realized my mistake and initiated a sharp left turn to avoid the airport. During the turn, I tried to contact the tower, but was unable to raise them. Later I found that in my haste I had tuned the wrong frequency. After leveling off and heading due west, 2 military jets (A10's) descended out of the clouds in a tight left turn about 500 ft above my position and continued on what appeared to be a downwind leg. I couldn't tell if the jets saw me and they past by very quickly. I increased to maximum speed in order to clear the class D airspace as quickly as possible. I then turned on course and continued my flight.

Title: INCURSION OF CLASS D AIRSPACE NXX.
Narrative: I WAS TRAVELING ON A DIRECT FLT FROM HEF TO DXR. AT A POINT APPROX 7 MI SW OF NXX, I INITIATED A R TURN TO AVOID A SNOW SQUALL THINKING THAT I HAD ALREADY PASSED NXX. AT A POINT APPROX 3 MI S OF NXX, I REALIZED MY MISTAKE AND INITIATED A SHARP L TURN TO AVOID THE ARPT. DURING THE TURN, I TRIED TO CONTACT THE TWR, BUT WAS UNABLE TO RAISE THEM. LATER I FOUND THAT IN MY HASTE I HAD TUNED THE WRONG FREQ. AFTER LEVELING OFF AND HDG DUE W, 2 MIL JETS (A10'S) DSNDED OUT OF THE CLOUDS IN A TIGHT L TURN ABOUT 500 FT ABOVE MY POS AND CONTINUED ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE A DOWNWIND LEG. I COULDN'T TELL IF THE JETS SAW ME AND THEY PAST BY VERY QUICKLY. I INCREASED TO MAX SPD IN ORDER TO CLR THE CLASS D AIRSPACE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. I THEN TURNED ON COURSE AND CONTINUED MY FLT.
