Narrative:
After cleared for takeoff, I followed the yellow taxi line around to what I thought was the runway and took off. There were no other planes moving on the airport ground, so it was not obvious at the time that it was another taxiway. When talking to the reno TRACON supervisor, he said this happened often in the past. Many pilots had followed the yellow line and took off on the taxiway. Overall, while a mistake, I will be careful not to repeat. The takeoff and flight were normal. I believe in the future I will use the airport view page when unfamiliar with an airport.

Title: A PLT IN AN SMA LOW WING ACFT TOOK OFF FROM THE TXWY AND DID NOT REALIZE IT UNTIL THE CTLR INFORMED HIM.
Narrative: AFTER CLRED FOR TKOF, I FOLLOWED THE YELLOW TAXI LINE AROUND TO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE RWY AND TOOK OFF. THERE WERE NO OTHER PLANES MOVING ON THE ARPT GND, SO IT WAS NOT OBVIOUS AT THE TIME THAT IT WAS ANOTHER TXWY. WHEN TALKING TO THE RENO TRACON SUPVR, HE SAID THIS HAPPENED OFTEN IN THE PAST. MANY PLTS HAD FOLLOWED THE YELLOW LINE AND TOOK OFF ON THE TXWY. OVERALL, WHILE A MISTAKE, I WILL BE CAREFUL NOT TO REPEAT. THE TKOF AND FLT WERE NORMAL. I BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE I WILL USE THE ARPT VIEW PAGE WHEN UNFAMILIAR WITH AN ARPT.
