Narrative:
On vectors for approach to dtw runway 21L, descending to 4000 ft on left base to final, got a TCASII RA. Air carrier Y saab 340 was on vectors right base to final for runway 21R. In VMC, had visual. Captain stopped descent at about 4500 ft MSL. Saab went under us then was vectored 30 degrees back to right and we reacquired visual and ATC separation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC BTWN A DC9 ON A L BASE LEG TO THE L PARALLEL RWY AND A SAAB 340 PASSING UNDER THE DC9 AND THEN VECTORED BACK FOR THE R PARALLEL RWY. THE RPTING DC9 CAPT STOPPED DSCNT IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA AND THEN OBSERVED THE SAAB XING BELOW.
Narrative: ON VECTORS FOR APCH TO DTW RWY 21L, DSNDING TO 4000 FT ON L BASE TO FINAL, GOT A TCASII RA. ACR Y SAAB 340 WAS ON VECTORS R BASE TO FINAL FOR RWY 21R. IN VMC, HAD VISUAL. CAPT STOPPED DSCNT AT ABOUT 4500 FT MSL. SAAB WENT UNDER US THEN WAS VECTORED 30 DEGS BACK TO R AND WE REACQUIRED VISUAL AND ATC SEPARATION.
