Narrative:

After takeoff, smoke was noticed throughout aircraft. Flight attendant #1 notified captain, and the captain decided to turn back. We landed with no need to evacuate/evacuation. Normal deplaning was done. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the smoke was quite thick, so the captain made an immediate announcement to return to mexico city. The passenger did start to panic. The crew did not prepare for an emergency landing, and fire trucks did meet the airplane. They never discovered the source of the smoke. The flight was canceled and the plane was taken OTS.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT RPT, MD80, MEX-DFW, SMOKE IN CABIN AFTER TKOF. RETURN TO MEX.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF, SMOKE WAS NOTICED THROUGHOUT ACFT. FLT ATTENDANT #1 NOTIFIED CAPT, AND THE CAPT DECIDED TO TURN BACK. WE LANDED WITH NO NEED TO EVAC. NORMAL DEPLANING WAS DONE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE SMOKE WAS QUITE THICK, SO THE CAPT MADE AN IMMEDIATE ANNOUNCEMENT TO RETURN TO MEXICO CITY. THE PAX DID START TO PANIC. THE CREW DID NOT PREPARE FOR AN EMER LNDG, AND FIRE TRUCKS DID MEET THE AIRPLANE. THEY NEVER DISCOVERED THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE. THE FLT WAS CANCELED AND THE PLANE WAS TAKEN OTS.
