Narrative:

The flight attendants all did an excellent job communicating to the cockpit and purser that they smelled, but did not see any smoke. The cockpit was quick to assess situation and advise us of an emergency landing to check out situation. Went very smoothly. Passenger calm. Good PA's from purser and cockpit as to the situation. Our training helped us all stay clam, alert, and working together. Upon our safe landing and no fire, passenger should have been taken off plane, but instead were left on approximately 4 hours while the mechanical was fixed. This caused them to be edgy, heated, and at one point unmanageable. (We had had a tire blow out on takeoff, which was heated, retracted, and caused burning smell through aircraft packs. Replaced 2 tires and a brake as well as something in the cockpit.)
