Narrative:
Starting descent to dfw advised by #1 flight attendant that paraplegic person was being given therapeutic oxygen and suggested paramedics should meet the airplane. Called dispatch and advised them of situation. About the time we contacted dfw tower for landing clearance for runway 13R, #1 flight attendant advised me that passenger was not doing well and we should get to the paramedics as soon as possible. We then declared medical emergency with dfw tower at approximately XA15 and received priority handling from dfw tower and dfw ground en route to gate. Thanks to dispatch, there was a team of paramedics waiting for us when we arrived. The #1 flight attendant is to be commended for clear concise communication to me and her take charge attitude regarding this matter.
