Narrative:
We leveled at 6000 ft wbound out of msp when departure called light aircraft traffic to us at 12 O'clock, 3 mi, and 6500 ft. We saw the traffic about the same time we got a TA, closely followed by an RA with a TCASII command to descend. The captain followed the command and we descended to approximately 5500 ft. We advised ATC then climbed back to 6000 ft when clear of conflict. More of a heads up from ATC would have helped in this situation. The TCASII system performed well and increased separation distance in a timely fashion.
