Narrative:
Departed sky park (5 mi nne of slc). Turned east crosswind east of I-15, which is out of class B airspace. Then contacted slc tower to ask for vectors through class B airspace to tva. Tower said 'stand by.' I turned south and a moment later tower said, 'experimental aircraft X what is your position?' I said, 'well east of I-15 abeam of tower.' tower said, 'experimental aircraft X you are in class B.' I said to tower, 'experimental aircraft X, I am not in class B.' tower said, 'you are in class B' and I said once again, 'I am well east of I-15 and not in class B.' tower 'do you have pencil and paper?' I said 'no.' he said, 'experimental, stand by.' I turned east and monitored tower for 10 mins. Tower never got back to me. I went on to haber city, landed and doublechked my charts. There is a bubble in the class B east of the field. It is possible that I clipped the east boundary of class B. This bubble in class B is a trap. Every place else you are clear of class B if you stay east of I-15 except here. The controller in this situation was not helpful if in fact I had penetrated class B, and he never did give me vectors or get back to me. If ATC is truly concerned about safety, they should stop worrying about pencil and paper and give vectors and get out of the 'gotcha' mode.

Narrative: DEPARTED SKY PARK (5 MI NNE OF SLC). TURNED E XWIND E OF I-15, WHICH IS OUT OF CLASS B AIRSPACE. THEN CONTACTED SLC TWR TO ASK FOR VECTORS THROUGH CLASS B AIRSPACE TO TVA. EVERY PLACE ELSE YOU ARE CLR OF CLASS B IF YOU STAY E OF I-15 EXCEPT HERE.
