Narrative:

Ground issued directions to hold short of runway 9L at taxiway B1. First officer was taxiing aircraft. I (captain) was reading taxi checklist. Both pilots looking for taxiway B1. No signs on corner of parallel taxiway and extensions to runway. All we saw the whole length of taxiway B was 'B' signs. I then tried to find airport diagram for sfb in coastal geographic charts. There were none. Finally saw a 'B1' sign way up on runway out first officer's side window. It was at least 50 yards off parallel taxiway. Stopped aircraft but had crossed a restr line by the time we saw 'B1' sign on runway. Non FAA airport. Signs should have been on corner of taxiway and coastal geographic charts should have had airport diagram.
