Narrative:
On sep/xa/99, I was on flight X dfw-sna as flight attendant #3. We had a typical boarding and taxi out. Immediately after takeoff, I saw the aft coach cabin was filling up with smoke. I asked the #5 flight attendant if he saw it too. I then called the #2, #4 and #1 flight attendants to confirm. It was definitely smoke. I called the captain and told him that the cabin was heavy in smoke. He said ok, we will turn around and hung up. At that time the passenger noticed the smoke, about 8 passenger were starting to stand and were shouting fire, smoke. A lot of call lights were going off and the lavatory smoke detectors were going off. I got on the PA and told the passenger to clam down, to situation down and make sure their seat belts were fastened. I said that I contacted the captain and told him about the smoke. Stay seated and stay calm. I got back on the interphone and heard the #4 flight attendant talking with someone in the aft galley. He then got on the phone and said he was a non revenue B767 captain and he needed to talk with the captain. I told him to call him. At that time I went over my evacuate/evacuation commands for my door in my head. I looked around the cabin and everyone was looking at me and the #5 flight attendant. I noticed a man coming up the cabin, he was waving his company identify and told me he needed my keys to go to the cockpit. I got out of my jump seat and followed him to the cockpit. I opened the door and let him in. The #1 flight attendant just got off the phone with the captain. He told me the captain said if we need to evacuate/evacuation the signal would be easy vector and we will be on the ground in 3 mins. I went back to my jump seat. The #5 flight attendant was aft coming up the aisle on his hands and knees feeling for heat, looking for fire. I said my commands over in my head again. The #1 flight attendant made a PA and so did the captain about our situation. Then we landed! The captain told us later that from the time we took off to the time we landed it was only 6 mins. We came to a stop! The captain came over the PA and told everyone that there was no need to evacuate/evacuation the plane, there was no fire. The fire trucks were all around us. The captain came back on later and told us the firemen would be using water to spray in the #2 engine because the engine was smoking. About 10-15 mins went by. All the flight attendants were on the phone at all times to stay in contact with each other. We then went back to the gate and all got off. On deplaning, the #5 flight attendant went back to see if a woman needed help. She was complaining about chest pains. The paramedics were called. They checked her out and I guess she was ok. She walked off the plane 10 mins later to go to her sna flight. Then all the flight attendants went to operations to debrief. We deadheaded home to sjc later that night.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT RPT, B757, DFW-SNA, ON TKOF, SMOKE IN CABIN. RETURN TO DFW. FIRE TRUCKS MET FLT AND SPRAYED #2 ENG. TAXI BACK, FLT CANCELED.
Narrative: ON SEP/XA/99, I WAS ON FLT X DFW-SNA AS FLT ATTENDANT #3. WE HAD A TYPICAL BOARDING AND TAXI OUT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF, I SAW THE AFT COACH CABIN WAS FILLING UP WITH SMOKE. I ASKED THE #5 FLT ATTENDANT IF HE SAW IT TOO. I THEN CALLED THE #2, #4 AND #1 FLT ATTENDANTS TO CONFIRM. IT WAS DEFINITELY SMOKE. I CALLED THE CAPT AND TOLD HIM THAT THE CABIN WAS HVY IN SMOKE. HE SAID OK, WE WILL TURN AROUND AND HUNG UP. AT THAT TIME THE PAX NOTICED THE SMOKE, ABOUT 8 PAX WERE STARTING TO STAND AND WERE SHOUTING FIRE, SMOKE. A LOT OF CALL LIGHTS WERE GOING OFF AND THE LAVATORY SMOKE DETECTORS WERE GOING OFF. I GOT ON THE PA AND TOLD THE PAX TO CLAM DOWN, TO SIT DOWN AND MAKE SURE THEIR SEAT BELTS WERE FASTENED. I SAID THAT I CONTACTED THE CAPT AND TOLD HIM ABOUT THE SMOKE. STAY SEATED AND STAY CALM. I GOT BACK ON THE INTERPHONE AND HEARD THE #4 FLT ATTENDANT TALKING WITH SOMEONE IN THE AFT GALLEY. HE THEN GOT ON THE PHONE AND SAID HE WAS A NON REVENUE B767 CAPT AND HE NEEDED TO TALK WITH THE CAPT. I TOLD HIM TO CALL HIM. AT THAT TIME I WENT OVER MY EVAC COMMANDS FOR MY DOOR IN MY HEAD. I LOOKED AROUND THE CABIN AND EVERYONE WAS LOOKING AT ME AND THE #5 FLT ATTENDANT. I NOTICED A MAN COMING UP THE CABIN, HE WAS WAVING HIS COMPANY IDENT AND TOLD ME HE NEEDED MY KEYS TO GO TO THE COCKPIT. I GOT OUT OF MY JUMP SEAT AND FOLLOWED HIM TO THE COCKPIT. I OPENED THE DOOR AND LET HIM IN. THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THE CAPT. HE TOLD ME THE CAPT SAID IF WE NEED TO EVAC THE SIGNAL WOULD BE EASY VECTOR AND WE WILL BE ON THE GND IN 3 MINS. I WENT BACK TO MY JUMP SEAT. THE #5 FLT ATTENDANT WAS AFT COMING UP THE AISLE ON HIS HANDS AND KNEES FEELING FOR HEAT, LOOKING FOR FIRE. I SAID MY COMMANDS OVER IN MY HEAD AGAIN. THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT MADE A PA AND SO DID THE CAPT ABOUT OUR SIT. THEN WE LANDED! THE CAPT TOLD US LATER THAT FROM THE TIME WE TOOK OFF TO THE TIME WE LANDED IT WAS ONLY 6 MINS. WE CAME TO A STOP! THE CAPT CAME OVER THE PA AND TOLD EVERYONE THAT THERE WAS NO NEED TO EVAC THE PLANE, THERE WAS NO FIRE. THE FIRE TRUCKS WERE ALL AROUND US. THE CAPT CAME BACK ON LATER AND TOLD US THE FIREMEN WOULD BE USING WATER TO SPRAY IN THE #2 ENG BECAUSE THE ENG WAS SMOKING. ABOUT 10-15 MINS WENT BY. ALL THE FLT ATTENDANTS WERE ON THE PHONE AT ALL TIMES TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER. WE THEN WENT BACK TO THE GATE AND ALL GOT OFF.
