Narrative:

We (aircraft X) were cleared to climb FL270 (read back altitude clearance). Upon leveloff, got TCASII TA, then RA, RA to descend and monitor vertical speed. Captain had visual contact with an air carrier while adhering to RA. ATC then notified us of traffic, then we advised ATC of conflict and that captain had aircraft in sight. Other air carrier pilot did the same. Other air carrier apparently was cleared to FL270 as well. Later, we were told ATC mistakenly cleared us both to FL270.
