Narrative:
Original clearance altitude was 5000 ft. Was amended during takeoff clearance to 4000 ft. We were cleared for takeoff, following the departure procedure in a climbing right turn in accordance with the departure procedure. We were given continual TA's. We were completing after takeoff items and climb items and setting navaids for flight progression. Departure was calling traffic and questioned our altitude and assigned altitude. I realized we had flown through 4000 ft to 5300 ft. Captain was correcting to 5000 ft, but realized we missed 4000 ft. We remained at 5000 ft and were given further climb instructions and phone number. Continued flight in accordance with ATC and flight plan.
