Narrative:
While at cruise altitude FL240 north of rzs, TCASII alerted a TA followed by an RA advising a descent. TCASII display showed another TCASII equipped aircraft descending about 600 ft above our altitude. We immediately followed the RA and descended. I called ZLA to advise them of our action and RA. ZLA told us to turn to heading 270 degrees immediately. We turned to that heading as we descended. 'Clear of conflict' sounded. ZLA then cleared us direct bsr and resume cruise at FL240. We never saw the aircraft that gave us this RA. Our destination was sfo. No complaints of any injuries by passenger nor crew after completion of maneuver. Rest of flight was uneventful.

Title: FLC OF A MD90 DSNDED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA AND ADVISED ATC. ARTCC CTLR THEN INSTRUCTED RPTR TO TURN TO A GIVEN HDG IMMEDIATELY.
Narrative: WHILE AT CRUISE ALT FL240 N OF RZS, TCASII ALERTED A TA FOLLOWED BY AN RA ADVISING A DSCNT. TCASII DISPLAY SHOWED ANOTHER TCASII EQUIPPED ACFT DSNDING ABOUT 600 FT ABOVE OUR ALT. WE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED THE RA AND DSNDED. I CALLED ZLA TO ADVISE THEM OF OUR ACTION AND RA. ZLA TOLD US TO TURN TO HDG 270 DEGS IMMEDIATELY. WE TURNED TO THAT HDG AS WE DSNDED. 'CLR OF CONFLICT' SOUNDED. ZLA THEN CLRED US DIRECT BSR AND RESUME CRUISE AT FL240. WE NEVER SAW THE ACFT THAT GAVE US THIS RA. OUR DEST WAS SFO. NO COMPLAINTS OF ANY INJURIES BY PAX NOR CREW AFTER COMPLETION OF MANEUVER. REST OF FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
