Narrative:
With autoplt on at altitude of FL273, with a climb rate of 2800 FPM, received clearance to alter leveloff altitude to FL280 vice FL350. Altitude hold selected with FL280 set in FMA. Aircraft reached FL283 before descending to FL280. No problems reported from ATC.
