Narrative:
TCASII RA. At approximately XA25Z on oct/thu/00, traveling from lpb to vvi on ua 304 and level at FL330 we received a traffic traffic message from TCASII. The screen indicated an aircraft flying in the opposite direction, within the 10 mi scale 300 ft below our aircraft and climbing. The TCASII commanded a descent at approximately 1200 FPM. The autoplt was disconnected and a descent begun. At approximately FL320 we received a monitor vertical speed, and the other aircraft was visually sighted above us. It looked like a B727, but we were unable to identify it. We notified la paz center of our response to the TCASII advisory and said we were returning to FL330. We said that the aircraft had climbed through our altitude. Center then began a conversation in spanish with another aircraft and it sounded like he mentioned our airlines several times. We can only assume he was talking to the other aircraft involved. We returned to our previous altitude and continued to our destination with no further discussions with center.

Title: B757 CREW HAD TCASII RA IN SLLP CLASS A.
Narrative: TCASII RA. AT APPROX XA25Z ON OCT/THU/00, TRAVELING FROM LPB TO VVI ON UA 304 AND LEVEL AT FL330 WE RECEIVED A TFC TFC MESSAGE FROM TCASII. THE SCREEN INDICATED AN ACFT FLYING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, WITHIN THE 10 MI SCALE 300 FT BELOW OUR ACFT AND CLBING. THE TCASII COMMANDED A DSCNT AT APPROX 1200 FPM. THE AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED AND A DSCNT BEGUN. AT APPROX FL320 WE RECEIVED A MONITOR VERT SPD, AND THE OTHER ACFT WAS VISUALLY SIGHTED ABOVE US. IT LOOKED LIKE A B727, BUT WE WERE UNABLE TO IDENT IT. WE NOTIFIED LA PAZ CTR OF OUR RESPONSE TO THE TCASII ADVISORY AND SAID WE WERE RETURNING TO FL330. WE SAID THAT THE ACFT HAD CLBED THROUGH OUR ALT. CTR THEN BEGAN A CONVERSATION IN SPANISH WITH ANOTHER ACFT AND IT SOUNDED LIKE HE MENTIONED OUR AIRLINES SEVERAL TIMES. WE CAN ONLY ASSUME HE WAS TALKING TO THE OTHER ACFT INVOLVED. WE RETURNED TO OUR PREVIOUS ALT AND CONTINUED TO OUR DEST WITH NO FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH CTR.
