Narrative:
Departure and climb out uneventful. While cleared direct spa and climbing to FL290, we experienced a TA immediately followed by an RA passing FL283. We immediately stopped the climb to comply with the RA (descend) and was also told to descend to FL280 by ATC (ZTL), and told to turn to 090 degree heading. We were on a 040 degree heading direct spa at the time of the RA. We complied with the instructions, reset the altitude alerter to reflect our new altitude (280 degrees) and watched an air carrier B737 pass off our left side at FL290, at about 3-4 NM. He too experienced an RA. Several mins later, we were released to FL290 and on course direct spa.

Title: B727 AND B737 HAD TCASII RA IN ZTL CLASS A.
Narrative: DEP AND CLBOUT UNEVENTFUL. WHILE CLRED DIRECT SPA AND CLBING TO FL290, WE EXPERIENCED A TA IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY AN RA PASSING FL283. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE CLB TO COMPLY WITH THE RA (DSND) AND WAS ALSO TOLD TO DSND TO FL280 BY ATC (ZTL), AND TOLD TO TURN TO 090 DEG HDG. WE WERE ON A 040 DEG HDG DIRECT SPA AT THE TIME OF THE RA. WE COMPLIED WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS, RESET THE ALT ALERTER TO REFLECT OUR NEW ALT (280 DEGS) AND WATCHED AN ACR B737 PASS OFF OUR L SIDE AT FL290, AT ABOUT 3-4 NM. HE TOO EXPERIENCED AN RA. SEVERAL MINS LATER, WE WERE RELEASED TO FL290 AND ON COURSE DIRECT SPA.
