Narrative:
On oct/thu/00, one of our flight school's C172's experienced wake turbulence in-flight causing one of the sheet metal panels on the top right wing to crinkle. The plane landed safely at home base (ZZZ) without incident. I inspected the aircraft and read that NTSB part 830 writes that 'dented skin' was not considered 'substantial damage' for the purpose of this part. I called the airframe mechanic at XXX to let him know I would bring the aircraft over for repairs. I expected it would take the mechanic 1-2 weeks to replace the sheet metal work with his backlog of work, but was hoping it could be completed in 1 week. While I did not believe the aircraft should be rented without repair, I felt the aircraft was to fly 45 mi to XXX for repairs due to the fact it had safely landed and the pilot reported it flew fine. In my opinion, the aircraft appeared airworthy for a 1 time flight and I safely completed the flight to XXX. The aircraft flew fine and showed no adverse affects from the wrinkled panel.
