Narrative:
Arriving aircraft and departing aircraft using same taxiway exit. I was prepared to depart runway 18, another aircraft had just landed and was attempting to exit same taxiway. A second aircraft (king air) called base to final 1 mi. I took the active runway 18 to clear the intersection. With the excellent visibility, the king air appeared to be further out than 1 mi. This proved to be true as I was 1/2 mi from the airport when he reported short final. In retrospect, I should have waited until the king air had landed, but I know safety was not compromised. I should not have been influenced by the actions of the aircraft that had just landed as would have seen me sitting at the intersection and probably had plans to exit the runway safely.
