Narrative:
Flight was cleared to 16000 ft on assigned heading of 270 degrees by fll departure (126.05). Just as departure control assigned heading 310 degrees to intercept the thndr transition on the fll 9 departure and as he handed us off to ZMA on 132.45, we were passing 15500 ft. As I doublechked course on departure plate and tuned new radio frequency, we passed through 16000 ft. Aircraft reached approximately 16700 ft prior to recovery to 16000 ft. At that time, we checked in with mia center and were cleared to higher altitude, per ZMA, no loss of aircraft separation occurred.

Title: LGT FLC OVERSHOT ASSIGNED INTERMEDIATE DEP ALT DUE TO WORKLOAD DISTRS.
Narrative: FLT WAS CLRED TO 16000 FT ON ASSIGNED HDG OF 270 DEGS BY FLL DEP (126.05). JUST AS DEP CTL ASSIGNED HDG 310 DEGS TO INTERCEPT THE THNDR TRANSITION ON THE FLL 9 DEP AND AS HE HANDED US OFF TO ZMA ON 132.45, WE WERE PASSING 15500 FT. AS I DOUBLECHKED COURSE ON DEP PLATE AND TUNED NEW RADIO FREQ, WE PASSED THROUGH 16000 FT. ACFT REACHED APPROX 16700 FT PRIOR TO RECOVERY TO 16000 FT. AT THAT TIME, WE CHECKED IN WITH MIA CENTER AND WERE CLEARED TO HIGHER ALT, PER ZMA, NO LOSS OF ACFT SEPARATION OCCURRED.
