Narrative:
Aircraft arrived with a latched FCU-2 failure. A bite test was accomplished and found that flight management augmentation computer-1 and FMGC-2 caused the failure. After resetting flight management augmentation computer-1/flight management augmentation computer-2 circuit breakers, the system still had power up problems. The circuit breakers were pulled again and the A13 obrm's pulled from the gmgc's, then reinstalled. This procedure, per avionics engineering, cleans the memory of corruption inside the FMGC's. When system pwred back up, the bite test passed and failure reset. The aircraft logbook was signed off and the aircraft returned to revenue service. The logbook entry also required a CAT recertification. The recertification entry was made by myself thinking that I was current. When I returned to work for my next scheduled shift, I pulled up my training dates in the computer to find that my CAT certification had expired mar/xa/01 on the airbus. This is not the first time that our training department has allowed CAT qualifications to expire before requalifying. I do not know what the fix for this problem is, but for me personally, I will not accomplish any more CAT recertifications on our aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN AIRBUS 319 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE CAT 11 RECERTIFICATION SIGNED BY AN UNQUALIFIED TECHNICIAN.
Narrative: ACFT ARRIVED WITH A LATCHED FCU-2 FAILURE. A BITE TEST WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND FOUND THAT FLT MGMNT AUGMENTATION COMPUTER-1 AND FMGC-2 CAUSED THE FAILURE. AFTER RESETTING FLT MGMNT AUGMENTATION COMPUTER-1/FLT MGMNT AUGMENTATION COMPUTER-2 CIRCUIT BREAKERS, THE SYS STILL HAD PWR UP PROBS. THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS WERE PULLED AGAIN AND THE A13 OBRM'S PULLED FROM THE GMGC'S, THEN REINSTALLED. THIS PROC, PER AVIONICS ENGINEERING, CLEANS THE MEMORY OF CORRUPTION INSIDE THE FMGC'S. WHEN SYS PWRED BACK UP, THE BITE TEST PASSED AND FAILURE RESET. THE ACFT LOGBOOK WAS SIGNED OFF AND THE ACFT RETURNED TO REVENUE SVC. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT OUR TRAINING DEPT HAS ALLOWED CAT QUALIFICATIONS TO EXPIRE BEFORE REQUALIFYING. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE FIX FOR THIS PROB IS, BUT FOR ME PERSONALLY, I WILL NOT ACCOMPLISH ANY MORE CAT RECERTIFICATIONS ON OUR ACFT.
