Following northbound shoreline route at 3500 ft, advised by bay approach of B747 departing wbound from sfo. Called B747 in sight, and was directed by bay to 'pass behind.' altered course about 50 degrees right, and passed behind B747 by about 1 mi. B747 captain initiated a TCASII-directed descent as I was crossing his track behind him. We were never closer than 1 mi, and our tracks were diverging when he got the RA.
