Narrative:
On climb out, #1 flight attendant informed #2 flight attendant and myself that we would be returning to dallas, as a sensor in tailcone showed overheating. We were told that if we had to evacuate/evacuation that we were not to use tailcone. Captain told passenger that there was an air leak. Upon landing, we were met by rescue trucks and escorted to gate, where they took aircraft OTS.

Title: AN MD80 RETURN LAND AFTER THE MASTER CAUTION WARNING SYS INDICATES A HIGH TEMP INDICATION IN THE TAIL COMPARTMENT AT DFW, TX.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT, #1 FLT ATTENDANT INFORMED #2 FLT ATTENDANT AND MYSELF THAT WE WOULD BE RETURNING TO DALLAS, AS A SENSOR IN TAILCONE SHOWED OVERHEATING. WE WERE TOLD THAT IF WE HAD TO EVAC THAT WE WERE NOT TO USE TAILCONE. CAPT TOLD PAX THAT THERE WAS AN AIR LEAK. UPON LNDG, WE WERE MET BY RESCUE TRUCKS AND ESCORTED TO GATE, WHERE THEY TOOK ACFT OTS.
