Narrative:

Tail compartment temperature high annunciator light came on at about 1500 ft AGL after takeoff. Emergency procedure accomplished and light did not extinguish until left pack turned off. A flight attendant said he heard a popping noise after takeoff and there was still a lot more vibration than normal in the rear of the airplane. I decided to return to dfw. Maintenance found a broken clamp on the ducting from the left engine. The landing was made at 132900 pounds. The overweight landing check was made with no discrepancies. We departed for iad a second time, 2 hours later.
