Narrative:
I contacted ground control and requested taxi clearance to the north end of runways 16/32 for hover work and some operational checks. I was given clearance to the numbers at the approach end of runway 16 for my work. Active runways were runways 20L and 20R. As I taxied onto runway 16 from taxiway H, ground control, somewhat excitedly told me to change to tower. Tower then queried me on my intentions. It appeared that ground control had not coordinated my use of the non-active runway with tower. After I explained my intentions to tower, he told me to stay north of taxiway H. Nothing further was said about my operation until I requested a VFR departure to the north.

Title: S76. ATCT GND CTLR DID NOT TELL THE ATCT LCL CTLR WHAT HE CLRED THE HELI TO DO.
Narrative: I CONTACTED GND CTL AND REQUESTED TAXI CLRNC TO THE N END OF RWYS 16/32 FOR HOVER WORK AND SOME OPERATIONAL CHKS. I WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO THE NUMBERS AT THE APCH END OF RWY 16 FOR MY WORK.
