Narrative:

On 9/sat/01 I flew my taylorcraft to a private airstrip 20 miles southwest of my home base. Upon returning back to my home base I was informed, by the FBO, that the airspace was still closed to VFR flying. I had been watching tv coverage of the ny bombing and noted that 'air travel had resumed.' I had observed aircraft flying all day on 9/fri/01. The FBO was not yet open slightly before XA00, my takeoff time. I did not call FSS because ws was perfect and the short nature of the flight. I should have called FSS.
