Narrative:
We had an altitude deviation of approximately 300 ft while on a holding pattern near furistel VOR, just west of stl. While descending in the holding pattern the autoplt failed to capture our altitude at 13000 ft. Altitude decreased to 12700 ft when we corrected. The reason for this is company's failure to have the altitude in the altitude alert window automatic arm, instead of pilot manual arm. Fatigue also played a part.
