Narrative:
I was on a VFR evening flight from ZZZ to ZZZ1. Upon landing at ZZZ1 I was met by the local police, two officers who informed me that I had violated restr airspace over ZZZ2. I cooperated fully and they were courteous. I was aware that ZZZ2 had been expanded from 2500 ft MSL to 5000 ft MSL. I had set my altimeter to 30.32 by AWOS, but was not in touch with ATC. I had a friend, co-worker, with me who lived in ZZZ3 and was also using GPS as a backup to the sectional chart. We visually could see the ZZZ2 compound and detoured slightly to the east so that we would not pass overhead. We were also indicating 5000 ft, so I thought that we were ok. After being questioned by the police, we were told that we were free to go.
