Narrative:
We were talking to approach control. I was flying captain and was working radios when we got to the point that approach control usually hand's you off to the tower they either didn't or we missed it. Needless to say we landed at lax without a landing clearance we rolled out to taxiway aa off of runway 24R where there was another airliner holding to cross runway 24L I went to get ready to switch to ground frequency when I noticed we weren't on tower frequency, so I put tower in and the tower was trying to contact us to roll out to the end but it was to late we had already made the turn off. Holding behind the other aircraft evidently we were not clear of the runway so the tower controller had to send aircraft Z around. Captain explained to tower that we were either not given the handoff to tower or that we were so busy both us missed it.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MLG FLT CREW LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC OR CONTACTING TOWER RESULTING IN ANOTHER ACFT BEING SENT AROUND.
Narrative: WE WERE TALKING TO APCH CTL. I WAS FLYING CAPT AND WAS WORKING RADIOS WHEN WE GOT TO THE POINT THAT APCH CTL USUALLY HAND'S YOU OFF TO THE TWR THEY EITHER DIDN'T OR WE MISSED IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE LANDED AT LAX WITHOUT A LNDG CLRNC WE ROLLED OUT TO TXWY AA OFF OF RWY 24R WHERE THERE WAS ANOTHER AIRLINER HOLDING TO CROSS RWY 24L I WENT TO GET READY TO SWITCH TO GND FREQ WHEN I NOTICED WE WEREN'T ON TWR FREQ, SO I PUT TWR IN AND THE TWR WAS TRYING TO CONTACT US TO ROLL OUT TO THE END BUT IT WAS TO LATE WE HAD ALREADY MADE THE TURN OFF. HOLDING BEHIND THE OTHER ACFT EVIDENTLY WE WERE NOT CLR OF THE RWY SO THE TWR CTLR HAD TO SEND ACFT Z AROUND. CAPT EXPLAINED TO TWR THAT WE WERE EITHER NOT GIVEN THE HANDOFF TO TWR OR THAT WE WERE SO BUSY BOTH US MISSED IT.
