Narrative:
The event occurred during an aircraft chkout flight. I (CFI) was demonstrating an approach confign to the renter (private pilot). While turning onto left base for runway 21, at la crosse, tower issued a landing restr of 'cleared for full stop runway 21, I will call your departure,' to which I acknowledged. (We were in closed traffic and doing touch-and-goes). On final, the renter and I made a positive exchange of the controls so he could do the landing. He proceeded to land, rollout and add power for takeoff. During this time I was talking to the renter about the just completed approach and landing. We failed to stop and hold for our takeoff clearance and proceeded to climb out. At this time I remembered our hold instructions, but it was too late. The other aircraft was approaching from the opposite direction for a low'/missed VFR approach. No evasive action was required. When the renter and I exchanged controls on final, I made the mistake of assuming he would comply with the clearance and subsequently I let the clearance restr slip from my mind while I was talking to the renter about the approach and landing.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DURING TOUCH-AND-GO PRACTICE LNDGS, PVT PLT (WITH INSTRUCTOR) FORGOT TO HOLD ON THE RWY FOR TKOF CLRNC AFTER LNDG AS INSTRUCTED BY TWR CTLR. AS A RESULT, THE C152 MET ANOTHER ACFT HEAD-ON WHICH WAS MAKING A PRACTICE APCH FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
Narrative: THE EVENT OCCURRED DURING AN ACFT CHKOUT FLT. I (CFI) WAS DEMONSTRATING AN APCH CONFIGN TO THE RENTER (PVT PLT). WHILE TURNING ONTO L BASE FOR RWY 21, AT LA CROSSE, TWR ISSUED A LNDG RESTR OF 'CLRED FOR FULL STOP RWY 21, I WILL CALL YOUR DEP,' TO WHICH I ACKNOWLEDGED. (WE WERE IN CLOSED TFC AND DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES). ON FINAL, THE RENTER AND I MADE A POSITIVE EXCHANGE OF THE CTLS SO HE COULD DO THE LNDG. HE PROCEEDED TO LAND, ROLLOUT AND ADD PWR FOR TKOF. DURING THIS TIME I WAS TALKING TO THE RENTER ABOUT THE JUST COMPLETED APCH AND LNDG. WE FAILED TO STOP AND HOLD FOR OUR TKOF CLRNC AND PROCEEDED TO CLB OUT. AT THIS TIME I REMEMBERED OUR HOLD INSTRUCTIONS, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. THE OTHER ACFT WAS APCHING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FOR A LOW'/MISSED VFR APCH. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS REQUIRED. WHEN THE RENTER AND I EXCHANGED CTLS ON FINAL, I MADE THE MISTAKE OF ASSUMING HE WOULD COMPLY WITH THE CLRNC AND SUBSEQUENTLY I LET THE CLRNC RESTR SLIP FROM MY MIND WHILE I WAS TALKING TO THE RENTER ABOUT THE APCH AND LNDG.
