Narrative:
I was told to taxi to runway 12R, intersection K departure. When I arrived there, tower told me to taxi to runway 22, intersection M departure. When I arrived, the tower told me to immediately take off without delay. The tower was in a frenzy during the time. The tower person appeared edgy and impatient. I, in compliance, taxied onto the runway. I initiated the takeoff roll, but in the wrong direction. I immediately recognized the error. I closed the throttles and turned off at the end. I, the pilot, contributed because I did not check my heading indicator for the proper direction (initial). I was distraction getting my charts in order. I should've declined the takeoff clearance. I basically 'brain locked.' the tower contributed to the situation by switching my takeoff runway abruptly. ATC was at the time rushing me for takeoff, instead of asking if I was ready for takeoff. I, however, immediately recognized the error and aborted the takeoff roll (never left the ground). There was, to my knowledge, no unsafe condition created by this mishap.

Title: NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC DURING A WRONG DIRECTION TKOF ATTEMPT FOR RWY 22 AT HOU, TX.
Narrative: I WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 12R, INTXN K DEP. WHEN I ARRIVED THERE, TWR TOLD ME TO TAXI TO RWY 22, INTXN M DEP. WHEN I ARRIVED, THE TWR TOLD ME TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE OFF WITHOUT DELAY. THE TWR WAS IN A FRENZY DURING THE TIME. THE TWR PERSON APPEARED EDGY AND IMPATIENT. I, IN COMPLIANCE, TAXIED ONTO THE RWY. I INITIATED THE TKOF ROLL, BUT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED THE ERROR. I CLOSED THE THROTTLES AND TURNED OFF AT THE END. I, THE PLT, CONTRIBUTED BECAUSE I DID NOT CHK MY HEADING INDICATOR FOR THE PROPER DIRECTION (INITIAL). I WAS DISTR GETTING MY CHARTS IN ORDER. I SHOULD'VE DECLINED THE TKOF CLRNC. I BASICALLY 'BRAIN LOCKED.' THE TWR CONTRIBUTED TO THE SIT BY SWITCHING MY TKOF RWY ABRUPTLY. ATC WAS AT THE TIME RUSHING ME FOR TKOF, INSTEAD OF ASKING IF I WAS READY FOR TKOF. I, HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED THE ERROR AND ABORTED THE TKOF ROLL (NEVER LEFT THE GND). THERE WAS, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, NO UNSAFE CONDITION CREATED BY THIS MISHAP.
