Narrative:
En route on amber 300, vicinity of downt intersection, we couldn't get new york commercial radio's return call on a 25 NM left offset required for a WX deviation around thunderstorms at FL380. After initiating the turn under emergency authority/authorized, we finally heard a confirmation of clearance to deviation with direct bergh intersection when able. Thanks for taking the report.
