Narrative:

On taking runway, advancing and activating autothrottles, aircraft began to veer to right due to asymmetrical thrust. As I corrected to left, #2 engine came up and the aircraft veered to the left. Not extreme, but when I got aircraft straightened out, I found that takeoff power N1 setting had not been reached and throttles had declutched. Realizing that I could set power manually, it also occurred to me that I did not know how much runway I had left. Due to confusion, I aborted the takeoff. Was approximately 90 KTS, so autobrakes activated. Should have disengaged them first. Told tower immediately. Aircraft on final went around. Taxied to pad. Got a hot brake light, called and conferred with maintenance. Decided to go again due to perceived autothrottle problem. Had maintenance come and check #7 wheel which was overheating. Checked chart and constraints. Turned out #7 brake temperature indicator was erroneous, but waited till temperature came down below 150 degrees to attempt takeoff again. On next takeoff roll, autothrottles came up evenly but again did not reach prescribed takeoff power. Set manually and continued on to bog.

Title: FLC SETS TKOF PWR WITH PWR LEVERS. AUTOTHROTTLES ADVANCE PWR ASYMMETRICALLY CAUSING ACFT TO VEER. FLC ABORTS TKOF.

Narrative: ON TAKING RWY, ADVANCING AND ACTIVATING AUTOTHROTTLES, ACFT BEGAN TO VEER TO R DUE TO ASYMMETRICAL THRUST. AS I CORRECTED TO L, #2 ENG CAME UP AND THE ACFT VEERED TO THE L. NOT EXTREME, BUT WHEN I GOT ACFT STRAIGHTENED OUT, I FOUND THAT TKOF PWR N1 SETTING HAD NOT BEEN REACHED AND THROTTLES HAD DECLUTCHED. REALIZING THAT I COULD SET PWR MANUALLY, IT ALSO OCCURRED TO ME THAT I DID NOT KNOW HOW MUCH RWY I HAD LEFT. DUE TO CONFUSION, I ABORTED THE TKOF. WAS APPROX 90 KTS, SO AUTOBRAKES ACTIVATED. SHOULD HAVE DISENGAGED THEM FIRST. TOLD TWR IMMEDIATELY. ACFT ON FINAL WENT AROUND. TAXIED TO PAD. GOT A HOT BRAKE LIGHT, CALLED AND CONFERRED WITH MAINT. DECIDED TO GO AGAIN DUE TO PERCEIVED AUTOTHROTTLE PROB. HAD MAINT COME AND CHK #7 WHEEL WHICH WAS OVERHEATING. CHKED CHART AND CONSTRAINTS. TURNED OUT #7 BRAKE TEMP INDICATOR WAS ERRONEOUS, BUT WAITED TILL TEMP CAME DOWN BELOW 150 DEGS TO ATTEMPT TKOF AGAIN. ON NEXT TKOF ROLL, AUTOTHROTTLES CAME UP EVENLY BUT AGAIN DID NOT REACH PRESCRIBED TKOF PWR. SET MANUALLY AND CONTINUED ON TO BOG.
