Narrative:

After aircraft X arrived, found damage on walkaround consistent with a tail drag. I performed a tail dragged condition inspection. Another individual had already created an item in logbook for damage found. This individual said he would list all items, but wasn't yet, as he had to get station numbers, but he would be sure to list all damage. I signed off tail dragged condition inspection saying 'all damage noted on log page. No other defects noted.' the other individual failed to include all items and I failed to double-check all items that were listed. As a result, a temporary patch was installed and aircraft departed. At its next stop, aircraft was grounded for several days for structural repairs. At this time, another inspection was performed and additional damage noted which was noted before, but never got put in logbook. I should have entered the items myself instead of trusting someone else to do it or at least verified that the items were listed.

Title: A B747-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH UNRPTED TAIL DRAG DAMAGE NOT CORRECTED AND NOT ENTERED IN THE LOGBOOK.

Narrative: AFTER ACFT X ARRIVED, FOUND DAMAGE ON WALKAROUND CONSISTENT WITH A TAIL DRAG. I PERFORMED A TAIL DRAGGED CONDITION INSPECTION. ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL HAD ALREADY CREATED AN ITEM IN LOGBOOK FOR DAMAGE FOUND. THIS INDIVIDUAL SAID HE WOULD LIST ALL ITEMS, BUT WASN'T YET, AS HE HAD TO GET STATION NUMBERS, BUT HE WOULD BE SURE TO LIST ALL DAMAGE. I SIGNED OFF TAIL DRAGGED CONDITION INSPECTION SAYING 'ALL DAMAGE NOTED ON LOG PAGE. NO OTHER DEFECTS NOTED.' THE OTHER INDIVIDUAL FAILED TO INCLUDE ALL ITEMS AND I FAILED TO DOUBLE-CHK ALL ITEMS THAT WERE LISTED. AS A RESULT, A TEMPORARY PATCH WAS INSTALLED AND ACFT DEPARTED. AT ITS NEXT STOP, ACFT WAS GNDED FOR SEVERAL DAYS FOR STRUCTURAL REPAIRS. AT THIS TIME, ANOTHER INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED AND ADDITIONAL DAMAGE NOTED WHICH WAS NOTED BEFORE, BUT NEVER GOT PUT IN LOGBOOK. I SHOULD HAVE ENTERED THE ITEMS MYSELF INSTEAD OF TRUSTING SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT OR AT LEAST VERIFIED THAT THE ITEMS WERE LISTED.
