Narrative:
As per message, our flight landed without incident on runway 27R at ord and we were asked to hold short of runway 22R on taxiway east. We complied. After a moment or two, tower issued crossing instructions for us and to expedite our crossing which we did without hesitation. Crossing the runway however, both the captain and I noticed that the arriving aircraft was well into his landing flare, at a ht about 50 ft at our EST. Again, ATC issued taxi clearance to us and we did comply as directed. Both the captain and I agreed that the tower called it pretty close, and from the tower's position, ATC separation may have never been lost. However, from our position, though no aircraft was in imminent danger, the comfort level that the captain and I felt was that ATC should have let us stay put for a few more moments. Supplemental information from acn 560843: we were holding short of runway 22R at ord. Tower cleared us to cross runway 22R, expedite. We complied. Other aircraft landing runway 22R was closer to land than I would have liked.

Title: MD80 CREW AT ORD RWY 27R, AFTER LNDG, INSTRUCTED TO HOLD THEN CROSS RWY 22R WITH TFC IN LNDG FLARE.
Narrative: AS PER MESSAGE, OUR FLT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON RWY 27R AT ORD AND WE WERE ASKED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22R ON TXWY E. WE COMPLIED. AFTER A MOMENT OR TWO, TWR ISSUED XING INSTRUCTIONS FOR US AND TO EXPEDITE OUR XING WHICH WE DID WITHOUT HESITATION. XING THE RWY HOWEVER, BOTH THE CAPT AND I NOTICED THAT THE ARRIVING ACFT WAS WELL INTO HIS LNDG FLARE, AT A HT ABOUT 50 FT AT OUR EST. AGAIN, ATC ISSUED TAXI CLRNC TO US AND WE DID COMPLY AS DIRECTED. BOTH THE CAPT AND I AGREED THAT THE TWR CALLED IT PRETTY CLOSE, AND FROM THE TWR'S POS, ATC SEPARATION MAY HAVE NEVER BEEN LOST. HOWEVER, FROM OUR POS, THOUGH NO ACFT WAS IN IMMINENT DANGER, THE COMFORT LEVEL THAT THE CAPT AND I FELT WAS THAT ATC SHOULD HAVE LET US STAY PUT FOR A FEW MORE MOMENTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 560843: WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 22R AT ORD. TWR CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 22R, EXPEDITE. WE COMPLIED. OTHER ACFT LNDG RWY 22R WAS CLOSER TO LAND THAN I WOULD HAVE LIKED.
