Narrative:
After gear retraction, we had a forward equipment smoke EICAS message and smoke light on the overhead panel. We accomplished all appropriate checklists, declared an emergency and requested emergency equipment meet the aircraft. A cabin advisory was given to the flight attendants. Dispatch and iad operations were contacted via VHF and advised of our problem. An overweight landing was made at iad on runway 1L.

Title: B767 FLC HAS SMOKE ON DEP. DECLARED EMER.
Narrative: AFTER GEAR RETRACTION, WE HAD A FORWARD EQUIP SMOKE EICAS MESSAGE AND SMOKE LIGHT ON THE OVERHEAD PANEL. WE ACCOMPLISHED ALL APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS, DECLARED AN EMER AND REQUESTED EMER EQUIP MEET THE ACFT. A CABIN ADVISORY WAS GIVEN TO THE FLT ATTENDANTS. DISPATCH AND IAD OPS WERE CONTACTED VIA VHF AND ADVISED OF OUR PROB. AN OVERWT LNDG WAS MADE AT IAD ON RWY 1L.
